Ol`ga Smirnitskaia was one of the first Russian women-composers. The world famous composer Johann Strauss was invited to Russia by the royal family, and there he fell in love with Ol’ga and proposed marriage, but the marriage did not happen. The author of this book discovered the love letters of Johann and Olga in an archive in Vienna. This story is mostly about Ol`ga Smirnitskaia, and the role Strauss played in her life. Bibliography.
