Nikolai Borodin (1861-1937) had a very active social life before the revolution in one of the Ural towns. He was a patron and chairman of several public societies, the chairman of the local Cossack elected officials, participated in a census and economic study of the Cossacks in his region, represented the Ural Cossack Army in the state Duma. He finished his life in emigration (Boston (MA)) where he wrote these memoirs.
