This teaching about the immanent apocalypse was started and spread among workers by Ivan Isaev, one of the Old Believers. The current book is a reprint of Leskov`s essay, the conversations between Isaev, on one hand, and Nikolai Leskov and Andrei Dement`ev on another, written down by Isaev himself. The book also includes extensive comments to the essay itself and conversations and an article about Leskov by the compiler of this book A. Sazhin.
