This is the second enlarged and updated edition of the classic monograph by the outstanding modern expert in nomadic studies, Anatoly Khazanov (b. 1937), which studies military arts of the Sarmatian tribes dwelling in the epoch of Antiquity on the steppe area of Southeastern Europe. The second edition has a new author`s foreword and an afterword-commentary (pp. 238-286) by a leading specialist in the field of Sarmatian archeology and warfare, Aleksandr Simonenko, which provides us with a sufficiently full picture of the state of exploring Sarmatian armaments and art of war since 1971, when the first edition of this book was published.
