This book continues the series "A Man at wayside of the war". It includes memoirs of a former infantryman and prisoner of WWII. Iurii Apel` (b. 1924) started his service in 1943 and soon became a prisoner of war. Most of his memoirs were written in captivity. This book is not only his personal story, but also a thoughtful analysis of what he saw in Russian and German camps. It is also a story of his survival in the tuberculosis barracks.
