The current volume of the series History of the House of Romanov in Memoirs of Contemporaries includes four works about Russia under the successors of Peter the Great: the court intrigues, plots, coups d`etat, favorites and disgrace, and wars. The first one, by Major General C.G. Manstein, contains unique information about the Russian court life, Russian wars with Turkey and Sweden, economy, army, and fleet in 1727-1744. The second work by Field Marshal B.-C. Minich is about Russian rulers between Peter the First and Peter the Third, their government structure and bodies. The next work was written by Ernst Minich, the field marshal`s son, about the events of 1708-1741 and the private life of two Russian tsarinas Anna Ioannovna and Anna Leopol`dovna. The last work by an unknown author focuses on the military history of Russia of this period. Comments, name index.
