Sirotinina, O. V (Ol`ga Borisovna) Poriadok Slov v Russkom Iazyke
[ Word order in the Russian language]
3d stereotype ed
Moscow: URSS, KomKniga, 2006 172 p pbk. 14.5 x 21.5 cm ISBN: 5484005078 Language: RussianThis monograph analyzes the three functions of word order in Russian: grammatical, communicative, and stylistic. The author applies several methodologies: syntactic, functional, statistical, and experimental. Sirotina (b. 1923) states, contrary to common opinion, that word order in the Russian language is not free, that there are specific laws in written and oral language within a certain style. She also shows that the communicative and stylistic functions of word order show themselves strongly in Russian with its developed system of inflexions. Bibliography.
