This monograph by a well known Austrian slavicist is a study of the images and motif structure of the main body of texts of the early symbolic literary school: Briusov, Bal`mont, Minskii, Merezhkovskii, Gippius, etc. The main subject of the analysis is the mythological structure of what was lately called the decadent esthetic attitude.
