Language: RussianThe period of 1919-1929 in the USA, called a period of prosperity, is one of the most contradictory ones in the history of the country. “The final victory over poverty” and the nation as a “consumer society”, the cult of profit and emancipation of morals and manners with references to Freud, immigration as a national threat and racial theories, advertisement as a social tyrant and tabloids as a means to create a certain public opinion, prohibition as a guarantee of national recovery and Al Capone as a symbol of prosperity. All that led the Americans to the Great Depression at the beginning of the 1930s which largely resembles the Russian Perestroika, which began 50 years later.
