In the circumstance when Marxism and its latest version "istmat" (historic materialism) was officially approved as the only proper direction for philosophy and the foundation of the ideological system in the USSR, the real soviet philosophers were searching for alternative versions of Marxism. Though Lukach, Vygotskii (1896-1934), and Il`enkov (1924-1979) were working in various philosophical fields, they are united in this book as followers of the same direction which is called by the author "sovetskii diamat" (dialectic matarialism) which inherited some ideas from the works of G.V.
