This a reprint of the book under the same title, published by "The Society for the Spread of Religious-Moral Enlightenment in the Spirit of the Russian Orthodox Church" (Saint-Petersburg, 1903). Ioann Il`ich Sergiev (1829-1908) known as "the Saint of the common people" was the senior priest of the Kronstadt St. Andrew Cathedral, canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church in 1990. Written over 100 years ago by a contemporary of Saint John of Kronshtadt, the biography encompasses both interesting textual and visual data on the venerated Russian Orthodox archpriest.
