Bulgakov and Mandelshtam, the two literary giants, never met and yet their lives had so much in common. Born in the same year, 1891, they both were crushed by the cruel totalitarian system. Mandelshtam died in a Siberian GULAG in 1938, and Bulgakov 14 month later in his bed after unbearable stress and disillusionment. This book is a collection of autobiographical prose by these two writers and memoirs about them.
