This book is about the conflict between I.F. Kruzenshtern (1770-1846) and N.P. Rezanov (1764-1807) during the first Russian a round-the-world expedition in 1803-1806. It is built on the analysis of archival documents and daily notes of participants. The main reason for this conflict was ambiguity of the instructions given to the expedition. The author proves that Kruzenshtern was the real chief of the expedition, and disputes the common opinion that Rezanov usurped the leadership during the expedition. List of sources and literature.
