In its effort to gain access to the Baltic sea, Russia conducted the war in 1558-83, called the Livonian war, against the Livonian order, Sweden, Poland and the kingdom of Lithuania. This book consists of three parts. Part one includes documents of the Polotsk Voivode, governor of the province, Duke A.I. Nogtev-Suzdal`skii of 1571-1572. Part two contains documents of several Russian administrative centers created in Livonian cities in 1577-1579. Documents of travel archive of Voivode Vasilii Khilkov in 1580 are published in the third part. Indices, bibliographic references.
