Kovalev, Konstantin Savva Storozhevoi
[ Savva Storozhevoi]
Moscow: Molodaia Gvardiia, 2007 415 p. [32 ill.] Hardcover. 13 x 20 cm ISBN: 9785235030558 Language: RussianThe Savin-Storozhevskii monastery (Zvenigorod) is named after venerable miracle worker Savva Storozhevoi (d. 1407), follower and fellow-champion of Sergius of Radonezh, confessor of Dmitrii Donskoi`s family. Storozhevoi was involved in many changes that happened to Russia after the Kulikovo battle (1380). There is a very little known about his life and his role in the building of the Russian state and the Russian Orthodox Church. K. Kovalev gives new dates and offers new hypotheses about the biography of the saint justified by his research. The author collected many legends and myths, and put them in a new perspective. Appendix (A. Pushkin. Prepodobnyi Savva Igumen). Chronology and bibliography (pp. 390-413).
