December 14, 1825 was the day when a number of St. Petersburg aristocrats, mostly officers who had fought against the Napoleonic invasion of 1812 and participated in the foreign campaigns of the Russian army in 1813-1815, staged an uprising in protest against autocracy and serfdom. Research in the "Decembrist" movement flourished in the 1920s but was then restricted by heavy ideological control. This issue resumes systematic research in the area. It includes articles on Decembrists S.P. Trubetskoi, M.S. Lunin, D.I. Zavalishin, on Tsars Alexander I and Nicolas I within the context of Decembrism. Includes bibliography of Decembrists` writings from 1803 to 1992.
