Moscow: Indrik, 2007 430 p Serie: Traditsionnaia dukhovnaia kul`tura slavian. Sovremennye issledovaniia Hardcover. 14 x 21 cm ISBN: 9785857594209 Language: Russian
This new volume in the series "Traditional spiritual culture of the Slavs", started in 1991, deals with Balkan motifs in the Bulgarian language and culture. It focuses on identifying and analyzing Balkan features evident in the Bulgarian "text of birth", with particular emphasis on terminology, rites, and folklore. Childbirth is examined as an integral part of the world model - one which shares boundaries with other areas: the calendar, folk medicine, demonology, marriage, death, etc. The monograph contains field notes from recent years taken in Bulgaria and in the diaspora, as well as ethno-linguistic maps illustrating the local variation of Balkan terms, rites and beliefs. Bibliography and indices. Some other volumes of this series are also available.
