Ot Zapadnikov i Slavianofilov do Globalizma i Novogo Srednevekov`ia
[ The Great Russian debate : From the Westernizers and Slavophiles to globalism and the new middle ages]
Moscow: Akademicheskii Proekt, Institut Fonda "Obshchestvennoe Mnenie", 2003 605 p Serie: Okna i zerkala Hardcover. 13 x 21 cm ISBN: 5829102315 Language: Russian
This book is about the history of the two hundred years of arguments between Westernizers and Slavophiles: from Chaadaev and Kirievskii to Pomerants, Kliamkin, and Chesnokova. The book shows that this argument has ceased to be exclusively Russian and has became part of the larger problem of globalization of the world. The authors see that world is slipping into a New Middle Ages (Novoe Srednevekov`e). This concept was first described by Peterim Sorokin in 1941. The second part of the book is taken by analysis of social forecasts: social models of development, global predictions, and the place of Russia in them. The book quotes the positions of many participants in this long term discussion, and includes a detailed bibliography on the issue.
