Many of the survivors and veterans of the Great Patriotic War were considered by the soviet government as second rate citizen, among them prisoners of the war, civil victims of the German army, the Ostarbeiten. These people, victims of the two dictatorships and of the following democratic states, were deprived from any compensations and honorable awards. This book gives a chance to some representatives of these groups of war victims to be heard. It includes twelve memoirs of the people who stayed under occupation, were internees, Ostarbeiten, or prisoners of war.
