Language: RussianThis monograph studies the professional life and political views of Aleksandr Vasil`evich Golovnin (1821-1886), a graduate of the Tsarskoselskii Lyceum (1840), one of the cohort of liberal democrats of the epoch of Alexandrine reforms. He participated in these reforms in all steps of his career: minister of education (1862-1866), member of the State Council, and Secretary of State. The author studies those aspects of his activities in the Ministry of Education which reflect Golovnin’s liberal doctrine and which brought desirable changes in Russian education. Bibliography.
