The Russian orientalist and historian of Old Rus and Khazaria Anatolii Novosel`tsev (1933-1995) made a great contribution to the history of ancient states of Eastern Europe. This book was written by his colleagues from the Institute of Russian History. The variety of topics reflect the variety of interests of Novosel`tsev. The second half of the book contains twelve works by A. Novosel`tsev about Old Rus, the Caucasus and Caucasian peoples in Eastern sources. This book is the 1998 issue of the annual Ancient States of Eastern Europe.
