This monograph verifies the migration theory of M. Gimbutas on the ancient motherland of the Indo-Europeans and their expansion from East to West into the Carpathian-Danubian zone and into the Balkans (the archeological aspect). The book gives a detailed analysis of the stone zoomorphous eneolitithic scepters of the eastern and south-eastern Europe: typology, origin issues, chronology, territorial dissemination, cultural function, and so on. Valentin Fergachev (b. 1943), a historian and anthropologist, and director of the Institute of Cultural Heritage (Moldova), is a specialist in the early eneolithic epoch, bronze and early iron cultures of eastern and the south-eastern Europe. Profusely illustrated. Summary and contents are in English.
