It describes qualities of foods and herbs as well some advice on phlebotomy, the most common procedure of medieval medicine. Arnold from Villanova (1235-1311) was one of the best known doctors of the Middle Ages. The Salerno medical school, also known as the Hippocratic community, existed until the early 19th century.
