This monograph presents a general picture of the Christian Youth movement, particularly the YMCA, in the territory of Russia. The first headquarters of the YMCA named Maiak was founded in Russia by James Stokes (1841-1918) in 1900 in St. Petersburg. It was patronized by Prince A.P. Oldenburgskii (von Oldenburg). The monograph describes the structure, aims and activities of this movement in the pre-revolutionary years. Bibliography.
