Their mission was to participate in the celebration of the occasion of the coronation of Nicholas the First. His memoir about Russia of this period is made as a cycle of letters to a friend. The book was published in 1827 and was a big success. One of the letters was about the Decembrist rebellion, the resulting trial and execution. Also included are an essay about the life and works of Ancelot and reviews of his book Six Months in Russia by Ia. N. Tolstoi and P.A. Viazemskii. Comments, name index.
