St. Petersburg: Akademicheskii proekt, Izd-vo DNK, 2006 189 p Serie: Sovremennaia Zapadnaia Rusistika Hardcover. 14 x 21 cm ISBN: 573310337X Language: Russian
This monograph by Columbia University professor Frank Miller is about soviet pseudo-folklore of the 1930s. This new type of folklore was supervised by the party ideologists as closely as the rest of soviet literature. The creators of this folklore were accepted in the Union of Writers along with real writers and their works were published in papers, magazines and collections. The pseudo-folklore imitated traditional folklore genres: epos, lamentations, lyric songs, fairy tales, etc. The author studies the evolution of this folklore and its connections with traditional folklore. The supplement includes the most representative samples of Stalin`s folklore. Name index. Bibliography.
