The Talmudic Sages, the creators of Haggadah literature, were the spiritual leaders of the nation: teachers, mentors, and rabbis. Their goal was to make the Bible more accessible to the common people. One of the largest collections of this kind is the Midrash Raba, the multi-volume commentary on biblical subjects. A large number of texts in haggadah style can be found in the Talmud where they appear as literary commentaries to the dry legal texts. This anthology of Haggadah texts consists of four chapters: What is Haggadah about? Genres of Haggadah literature; Collections of Haggadah literature; Witty sayings: Sayings and proverbs of Haggadah. Numerous illustrations, including 16 pages of color illustrations " Jewish art of the Talmud period" with comments by V. Dymshits.
