Language: RussianThis book is a collection of documents about the creation of the Moscow City Peoples’ University on the initiative of general and owner of gold-mines Al`fons Shaniavskii (1837-1905). The Shaniavskii University, opened in 1908, was the very first independent, non-government university in Russia. In just ten years it consisted of about 60 independent schools of all levels. It was later closed by the Bolsheviks.
