This book is a result of an independent investigation of one of the tragedies of the soviet submarine forces, the death of 97 people on the nuclear submarine rocket carrier K-129 in 1968 near the Hawaian Islands. The circumstances of this loss were not covered in the soviet press until the Los Angeles Times published a report about the secret recovery of this ship by the CIA.
