This edition is conceived as a collection of preparatory materials for a future academic (critical or at least complete) publication of the collected works of Ivan Bunin (1870-1953), the first Russian to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature (1933). The first volume includes new or little known materials from foreign archives. Many of them are published in full for the first time. Also included are 25 interviews with Bunin published in periodicals in 1902-1917. The volume is illustrated with a large number of photographs of Bunin and people associated with him from the holdings of the Leed Russian Archive and for the most part never previously published.
