This book about the wandering of Vasilii Grigorovich-Barskii to sacred places of the East, in particular to Mt. Athos, was published in 1885-1887 and became a rare book. His report on his visit to Mt. Athos in 1774 is still the most complete descriptions of the churches, monasteries and other sacred places and their every day life. It includes a reprint of the 1887 edition. 33 illustrations. This is the first volume of a new series on the Eastern Christian world. It is addressed to everyone interested in this subject and the period.
