Smolin compiled and commented over 30 works of Russian writers of conservative orientation. This encyclopedia includes essays about Russian writers who, according to M. Smolin, contributed to forming a direction of thought which he called "imperial consciousness (or thinking)". This direction formulates a civilization basis of self-reliant and specific existence of the Russian Orthodox world as a Church and imperial entity.
