This book contains two works of Marshal Sergei Zakharov, assistant to the Chief of the General Staff of the RKKA (Raboche-Krest`ianskaia Krasnaia armiia) in 1938-1941, then the chief of staff of several fronts. This is the first uncut publication of both his works: General`nyi Shtab v Predvoennye Gody (pp. 8-235); Nakanunen Velikikh Ispytanii (pp.246-424). Appendices includes testimony of other members of the general staff and several documents on intelligence, military plans and army supplies of military equipment.
