This is an anthology of Russian lubok (folk popular literature) stories of the 18th-19th centuries, some of them are in literary versions of famous Russian writers: A. Pushkin, A. Radishchev, A. Remizov. A significant part of the book is taken by articles about this genre, its evolution in Russia, its interaction with "big" literature, comments to the stories included in the book (pp. 489-502).
