This book by Ivan Tikhonovich Pososhkov is one of the literary monuments of the early 18th century. Pososhkov made his way from peasant-craftsman to small manufacturer and a publicist in the epoch of the Petrine economic reforms. In addition to "Kniga o Skudosti i Bogatstve" this volume also includes his work "O Ratnom Povedenii" and excerpt from "Ashche Kro Voskhoshchet". It is unkknown whether these works reached Peter the First but they were noticed by his successors. Pososhkov was arrested by order of Catherine the Great, and died in prison in 1726.
