According to many Pushkinists this book is still the best Pushkin biography. Marianna Basina is a Russian philologist and Pushkin scholar. "Zhizn` Pushkina" was first published in 1965. It consists of four books: V Sadakh Litseia, Na Bregakh Nevy (1817-1820), Pod Nebom Poludennym, Pod Sen`iu Dedovskikh Lesov. This publication uses a scholarly, document-based approach as a foundation for historical fiction. Richly illustrated with drawings and engravings of the 19th century. Could be used as a reader for students.
