This monograph studies and publishes a unique text of Old Russian literature related to a sacred event in the history of the Russian Orthodox religion: the appearance of the icon of the Mother of God to the commoner Luka on the bank of the Kolocha River near the city of Mozhaisk in 1413. The author studies the history of the story about the miraculous icon, of its various versions, and the role this story had in the ideological battle within the Ruricovich House.
