This is the second edition of a book by the Russian philologist Andrei Zalizniak first published in 1995. The current edition includes additional results of the discoveries of 1995-2003 and consists of two chapters. The first chapter offers a general description of the dialect of Novgorod in the 11th to 15th centuries, based on all known birch-bark deeds as of 2003. Chapter two contains newly revised texts of these deeds. They are provided with translations and commentaries. Supplements include several indices and extensive bibliography (pp. 847-861).
