This is a reprint of the book by Ivan Porfir`ev (1823-1890) first published in 1877. Porfir`ev was a well known researcher, interpreter and publisher of Russian medieval manuscripts. This book is a collection of several manuscripts from the Solovki library, apocryphal stories about Old Testament personalities, provided with his comments.
