This work analyzes an allegorical layer in A. Pushkin`s Tale of Tsar Saltan. According to the author it shows the poet`s vision of Russian history from its baptism to the foundation of St. Petersburg. One of the main motifs of the tale is power in Russian and western European cultures. S.
