This is a biography of the famous military officer of the end of the 18th-early 19th centuries Iakov Petrovich Kul`nev (1763-1812). General Kul`nev could compete with Aleksandr Suvorov in his popularity with Russians. He fought in the Russian-Turkish campaign of 1789-1792, the Polish campaign of 1792-1794, the Prussian campaign against Napoleon in 1805-1807. He died in the Russian-Napoleonic war in 1812.
