Language: RussianA memoir of Valentin Kataev (1897--1986) "Almaznyi Moi Venets" stimulated a fierce dispute when it was first published. Some writers rejected this book as a bunch of lies and caricatures of well known soviet writers; others took this book as a serious but coded investigation on the history of Russian literature. M. Kotova and O. Lekmanov wrote an extended commentary to Kataev`s book, cleared many "dark" places, found the sources of Kataev`s quotations, and reconstructed the literary and social context of 1920-1930. The authors included in their analysis numerous sources and witnesses. Kataev`s book "Almaznyi Moi Venets" is also available.
