This book publishes the results of ethnographic field studies in the southern outskirts of St. Petersburg: Pskov and Novgorod areas. The study of these areas were started 1920s. Many of the ethnographers were repressed before they finished their work. This new book is a collection of materials on the spiritual culture of the northern lands of Russia: their rituals and rites, economy, traditional beliefs, social institutions, etc.
