This is a memoir of popular French painter Elizabeth Vigee-Le brun (1755-1842), who portrayed the French aristocracy and royal family. She was presented to the Russian royal family and welcomed by the aristocracy of Moscow and St. Petersburg. This book is her diary about Russian traditions, manners, and anecdotal stories. It also includes some of her letters to Princess Kurakina. The book is illustrated with black-and-white portraits of Russian nobility and provided with detailed comments (pp. 213-273). Bibliography.
