This monograph studies the formation and evolution of the artistic style of Andrei Platonov (1899-1951). The author compares the structure of his works with the structure of the folklore enigma, and concludes that mystification or "enigmatics" is an essential part of Platonov`s style in his works of 1920s-early 1930s. The deliberate deviation from this style in late 1930s is one of the main collisions of Platonov`s artistic life.
