Beloozero is one of the oldest and largest centers of Northeastern Rus. This book based on available archeological materials restores the historic topography and dynamics of development of the town in the 10th-14th centuries. The rise and fall of the town is studied in the context of forming and transforming rural settlements in the area of Lake Beloe and basin of the Sheksna River. The author pays special attention to identification of the factors responsible for crystallization of the urban center in the sparsely populated northern outskirts of Old Rus and reasons for its dying.
