Ekaterina Sushkova (Khvostova, 1812-1868) was an infatuation of the young Mikhail Lermontov. His verse cycle of 1830 is called the Syshkova Cycle. Sushkova`s notes portray her life before and during her marriage. Many pages of these notes are related to Lermontov. This is a reprint of the edition of 1928 prepared and introduced by the famous Russian philologist Iurii Oksman. Appendices include memoirs and articles by Sushkova`s contemporaries: E.
