Baron Nikolai Egorovich Vrangel (-1923) was the father of two famous sons: historian of arts N.N. Vrangel and commander of the southern military forces in the Russian civil war in 1920 P.N. Vrangel. Nikolai Vrangel, a successful businessman, writes in his memoirs how tsarist Russia throttled entrepreneurial initiative with bureaucratic instructions and official circumlocution.
