Vrangel after their defeat in the Turkish town of Gallipoli and other places abroad in 1920-21. Russian soldiers fought hunger, cold, acute diseases, and the hostility of their recent allies. Vrangel`s circle, especially Generals Kutepov, Kusonskii, and Shatilov, managed to preserve the spirit and integrity of the Russian army in emigration. Kutepov managed to unite the survivors of Vrangel`s army, organize their migration to Bulgaria and Yugoslavia, and create a center of Russian statehood, a kind of order of knights of the White Cause. Fifteen essays collected in this volume include several hundred biographical essays about Russian officers and soldiers. Comments. Other volumes of the series are also available.
