Lavr Kornilov (1870-1918), the commander-in-chief of the Russian Army in July-August, 1917, was the leader of a mutiny in August 1917 to establish a dictatorship which was suppressed by the Bolsheviks. The documents of General L.G. Kornilov’s case make up two volumes. The first volume, entitled The Extraordinary Commission for Investigation of the Case of the Former Supreme Commander, General L.G. Kornilov and his Accomplices: Between Society and Government: August 1917-June 1918. The documents included throw a new light on: the general`s offensive action and on the overall political situation before October, 1917; the grave danger his actions posed for the Provisional Government; the real position and authority of the government in the country. The second volume covers August-November, 1917. All together the materials give some answers whether there existed a plot and the "Kornilov mutiny” and whether he was under the control of the Soviets.
